Another Disappointing Response to Keele UCU’s OneKeele Consultation

Dear members, our correspondence with the university still continues regarding the Keele UCU consultation on OneKeele and senior management’s response. Please see below their latest message.

Dear Phil [Keele UCU President],

Thanks for your letter. I’m sorry that the UCU committee is disappointed with the Design Group’s response, however, your consultation response document revealed a fundamental lack of knowledge and understanding about the basic objectives and principles around the OneKeele programme and therefore we felt it would be helpful to signpost more directly to key areas of the OneKeele intranet pages. I’m sure you will agree that one cannot expect individuals to have a considered view on the impact of a change programme when they say they know little about it.

As we confirmed in the response document we are absolutely prepared to listen to the views of our staff and their representatives. Our intention is to publish, within the next couple of weeks, a detailed document which will set out the approach to Phase 2 organisational design and implementation which has been informed by feedback and engagement on Phase 1 plans. We believe this will answer many of your members’ specific concerns.

Best wishes

Rachel [Adams, Director of HR]

From this reply we will highlight one sentance:

I’m sure you will agree that one cannot expect individuals to have a considered view on the impact of a change programme when they say they know little about it.

Keele UCU Committee feel that this is exactly the point our members are making.

As always, please let us know your thoughts in confidence at committee@keeleucu.co.uk
