Keele UCU branch offers full support and solidarity to colleagues across the country over recent months who have been taking action over pay (Northern Ireland Further Education); defending jobs, fighting threat of redundancies (University of East London, University of Brighton, Heriot-Watt University, University of Leeds, Leicester University) and fighting for a safe and fair workplace (Northumbria University); demanding a move to online teaching (Birmingham City University); and finally, to those balloting on industrial action over planned restructuring (Goldsmiths).
At Keele, we have fought over redundancies in the past and most recently over a safe workplace & online teaching. These past years have been very challenging and many branches have been engaged in long disputes for issues over pay, pensions, equality. We have appreciated the collective solidarity and support we received from other branches in those fights.
Keele UCU wishes to support colleagues currently involved in taking action and have agreed to make a donation of £500 to the UCU fighting fund.
