Do I have to tell my manager that I am taking strike action?

Please note that all the legal obligations on prior notification of strike action on 30th November 2011 have been met; there is no obligation for individuals to provide prior notification of their participation in the strike.  So if you are asked by your manager before 30th November, please reply that UCU has already sent the employer the required legal notification.

However, if your manager asks you after the strike whether you took action, you should answer truthfully.

Any classes scheduled for 30th November should of course be cancelled; we advise that you notify students in advance to save them a wasted journey.

If are you unsure about anything, please do not hesitate to email Mark at: m.a.featherstone@appsoc.keele.ac.uk   or Malcolm at: m.h.crook@his.keele.ac.uk

See the UCU website on this issue.
